The Legacy of Asperger's Syndrome in Adulthood
There is a legacy left in the wake of childhood and adolescence lived unknowingly superimposed upon what is the foundational hard-wiring of difference and social disconnectedness that are central to the reality and scope of Asperger's Syndrome and that form different ways of thinking and perceiving that are outside the ebb and flow of the landscape of the stratum of social terra firma. A legacy of defectiveness that my personhood was engulfed in and defined by through the judgment of the NT masses. A legacy created by the reality of not having been diagnosed and informed so many years ago.
Asperger's - Living in Another World
Many who have Asperger's Syndrome are either described by others or describe themselves as living in another world. What does that mean? Is that true? What is it about having Asperger's Syndrome that leaves us, at least part of the time living in another world?
ASPERGER'S SYNDROME AND ADULTHOOD FROM THE INSIDE OUT - TWO WORLDS - ONE BRIDGE - UNDERSTANDING
Ebook by © A.J. Mahari April 26, 2006
As A.J. Mahari describes in, Asperger's Syndrome in Adulthood From the Inside Out "We have two worlds, one bridge - understanding. This is the reality of the world of Asperger's Syndrome in adulthood and the world of NeuroTypicals (NT's) in general. We have but one bridge - understanding - upon which to meet and to connect. Let us all walk this bridge that spans our differences toward its centre with tolerance and an attitude of gratitude for these sacred differences that challenge us to shelter and nurture our humanity with care."
A.J. Mahari's Review of the movie, "Mozart and the Whale" A movie based on the true story of two adults with Asperger's and their relationship.

Inside My Asperger's Experience $12.99
A.J. Mahari was initially diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at the age of 40.
She then denied it and didn't deal with for four years. She was told she had Asperger's Syndrome
at a time in her life and in a way you'd least expect. She was not seeking a diagnosis nor had she
ever thought she had Asperger's Syndrome. She then sought out a second opinion and was told she
didn't have Asperger's. Needing to break the tie, so to speak, she sought out yet another
assessment in which the diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome was confirmed. Mahari offers incredible
insight about the struggle for understanding versus the reality of the need for acceptance of limits
at the same time.
Putting the Pieces Together This web site is dedicated to all adults with Asperger's Syndrome and to those
who love them and seek to understand more about our different abilities.
While many things in life present many challenges the unique communication and relational
challenges that adults with Asperger's Syndrome face will be examined here in articles, with
the input of adults with Asperger's and hopefully also with the input of others who are in
relationship with us Aspies.
Each one of us wants to be understood for who we are, where we are, and because we are, simply,
unique, individual, and sensitive and have been hurt through judgment and/or misunderstanding
more often than we can even remember.
If you are what is known as a Neuro-Typical (NT - non-autistic person) please keep an open mind
and know that just because you experience certain things communication wise or relationally as normal
(and I defy you to really define normal anyway) it does not mean that any adult with Aspergers is all
wrong about what matters most to them or about what they have to say, how they express it and so forth.
Adults with Asperger's Syndrome may experience varying levels of disability in the NT world. However,
most adults with Asperger's have found a way to, in their own world, (or worlds) understand and work
with the reality of Asperger's in their lives as being about different ability.
Please join with me here, and others like me in this quest for understanding that will hopefully
build meaningful bridges within our individual aspie worlds and between the Asperger/Neuro-typical worlds.

A.J. Mahari Offers Life Coaching and Support
I also am a Life Coach and would be more than happy to consult with anyone with Asperger's Syndrome or the parents of those with Asperger's about various issues and challenges as well as developing and working toward facilitating compensatory strategies for coping with Asperger's. You can find out more about the services I offer at Touchstone Life Coaching On my website you can read about the services I offer and scroll down to the areas in which I provide life coaching and click on the Asperger's link.
Systemically, for adults, it seems that agencies and even groups who claim to offer solution oriented or coping support services really do not know as much about what its like to live with and cope with and deal with having Asperger's as I, as an aspie adult, know from the inside out, in the first person. If you feel that you may benefit from talking or meeting with me and the life coaching services that I offer to those with Asperger's or parents of those with AS please email me at: touchstonecoaching@rogers.com
